Too Faced Chocolate Bar Palette- Review and Swatches!

Ever since I first opened this palette for the first time, I have been obsessed. This palette has made an appearance in my everyday makeup routine for a while now. The colors are beautifully pigmented and are very easy to blend. It is also probably one of the best smelling eyeshadow palettes ever created! The packaging is super adorable and the mirror inside is the perfect size. Everything about this palette is high quality- right down to the magnet that keeps it shut.

Golds and browns are go-to eyeshadow colors for me, and all of these colors make my blue eyes pop. The range of shades is perfect and there is a great variety of both matte and shimmer. Personally, I tend to go for a matte crease with a shimmer on my lid, in the corner of my eye, and along my lower lash line. I find that the different shades of brown work very well together to create the perfect smokey look. The more shimmery shades are very pigmented, have little to no fall out, and last all day long. Sometimes eyeshadows can irritate my eye if they even get close to my lower lash line, but these shadows have never bothered me!

In every palette, there are bound to be a few shades that you won’t use very often and that are a little out of your comfort zone. However with this palette, I use every single shade. Even the berry and purple shades are useful! I use them to create the perfect light berry toned fall look and I pair it with a berry lip. I may not use them every single day like I do with the brown and golds, but they are great to have and I definitely have gotten some pretty good use out of them.

It took a lot of thinking and deliberating, but I managed to narrow my favorites down to my top three. Coming in first is Marzipan. This gorgeous burnt orangey gold (is that a real color? I don’t know!) is ultra-pigmented and lasts all day long. It is the perfect color to compliment my blue eyes, and I find that I always get compliments whenever I wear this on my lid. Second is Semi-Sweet, which is a matte brown. Semi-Sweet is very build-able, so you can really use it with any look. I use this color in my crease, and if I opt for a more dramatic look, I use it to blend out a darker crease color. It is really versatile, making it one of my favorites. Salted Caramel is a close third because it adds a pop of color. Again, this color is also build-able, making in the perfect shade to use to blend out a darker crease color with a natural looking pop of color. I know I said top three, but I can’t not mention Triple Fudge. This is currently my go-to crease color because it is dark, yet blend-able.

Sometimes mattes like these can feel chalky and dry, but these eyeshadows are almost creamy. They apply very smoothly and evenly, giving me the freedom to constantly try new looks. Cut creases are made easy and smokey eyes look professional when using this palette! Overall, I cannot recommend this palette enough. I purchased mine from Sephora for $49. It is a little more on the expensive side for someone on a tighter budget, but is decently priced for high quality eyeshadow. The quality of these eyeshadows is well worth the price, in my opinion.

One of my favorite looks using this palette- Marzipan on the lid and inner corner, triple fudge in the crease, and Salted Caramel to blend.

Have you tried this palette? If so, what are your favorite shades? I’d love to know so I can create new looks!

    1. Thanks so much! I used primer and concealer to try to make them a little neater! And I will definitely add that to my list of posts! I’m still learning and figuring things out myself, like how to sort posts into the tabs (I still can’t figure it out!). Thank you again for reading!!
